Pension Wise is a service introduced by the Government in April 2015
The service helps you understand your options at retirement if you have a defined contribution pension (that is a pension pot that you can decide what to do with, rather than a final salary or defined benefit pension).
There are three channels of guidance available:
- Website:Pension Wise
- Telephone appointment through The Pensions Advisory Service 0300 330 1001 (from outside the UK: +44 20 3733 3495). Opening hours: 8am - 10pm, every day. Calls cost the same as a normal call - if your calls are free, it’s included.
- Face to face appointment through Citizens Advice Pension Wise Centres booked through your local Citizens Advice at a location near you. Your local Citizens Advice can book the appointment for you if: You are over 54 ½ years old (or able to access the pension because of illness or because you have inherited it). You have a pension pot that you can decide how to spend. You are making the decisions about your pension in the next 6 months (any longer and it may be too soon for the guidance to be beneficial).
